Aimee's Soapbox!
April 2006: Live and Learn
Howdy, Groovy Readers! As you might be able to tell from these articles, I really value "learning." In fact, if you asked me the meaning of life, I would say that it is to learn as much as possible. (Luckily, I believe in reincarnation, so I have lots of chances to learn from my many mistakes.)
So this month, I thought it would be fun to hear what YOU have learned. Yes, that's right, Runaway Success and the Soapbox are sponsoring a contest for all Groovy Readers!
Here are the details:
1. EMAIL me (aimee@happyrunning.com) an essay, poem, or other group of coherent words that describes (a) the most important lesson you have learned in life or sports, (b) how you learned it, and (c) how you share this lesson with others. Please keep your entry to 200 words or less.
2. SUBJECT LINE of your email should be "Soapbox Contest Entry." You may also email me with questions about the contest.
3. ANYONE may enter this contest, but you may only submit one entry.
4. INCLUDE your full name, email address, and phone number so we can notify you when you win the. . . .
5. FABULOUS GROOVY PRIZE given to the best essay. Having been a former high school English teacher, I will look at your grammar, diction, syntax, and clarity! I will stop short of diagramming your sentences, but I will be thorough! I will judge on creativity, clear writing style, sincerity, and impact of lesson. Runaway Success and the Soapbox will award one Groovy Gift Basket to the winning writer. Judges may not be bribed, solicited, cajoled, or otherwise influenced. (Unethical behavior is not groovy.)
OK, get to writing! The winning essay will be highlighted in next month's column.
